Eve 6 Frontman, Max Collins, Premieres New Music Video For “Sports Bar”

April 1, 2014 – Los Angeles, CA – Eve 6 frontman Max Collins released a music video for his single Sports Bar on VICE’sNoisey today. In the video, Max is performing live at an old western tavern surrounded by creatures that want him dead and a Native American man who wants to save him. In the end, it’s the creatures who prevail. Watch the video for “Sports Bar” here:http://bit.ly/1llm3LF“Sports Bar” is off Max’s debut solo album Honey From The Ice Boxwhich is set to release on May 6th.

Max spoke about the video; “We had the good fortune of meeting Francis (the Native American man in the video) through a happy accident, quite literally. Thad Bridwell, the director of the video, was driving in the middle of nowhere near Joshua Tree national park awhile back when his car broke down,” he shares. He continues, “He had no phone service and was miles away from civilization. Francis happened to be driving by and offered his assistance. He got the car towed and fixed it himself. Thad stayed in touch with him after that and soon learned that Francis had built a fully functioning old west style tavern on his property. We went and checked it out and shortly thereafter the concept for the video came to me. We wanted it to feel like David Lynch meets Monty Python.”

Rather than using Eve 6’s label, Fearless Records, Collins chose to fund Honey From The Ice Box with a PledgeMusic campaign. He surpassed his initial goal with the help of 907 pledgers, the end result being a total 134% funding. Fans were enticed to pledge Max’s campaign with incentives such as a trip to Medieval Times and the opportunity to get matching tattoos with Max. Max, who has released five albums with Eve 6 since their inception in 1995, including 2012’s Speak In Code, plans to tour Honey From The Ice Box with a full band. For him, this album represents the beginning of something, an initiation into what he hopes will be an extensive solo career that will eventually yield more music. “My goal is to be able to have a solo career that’s characterized by consistent effort,” Max says. “I write all the time and this process was so gratifying for me. I’d like to develop a new relationship with my fans in this context and hopefully make some new ones.”
