Alabaster “The Villain In Me” EP Review

Alabaster is a quintet that was originally from Chicago and now took their band to Seattle. The band features Shaina Rae who does vocals for Alabaster, Kate Orlowski is the lead guitarist, Joe Bosslet is the rhythm guitarist, Marlon Deppen slappin’ the bass and Dwayne Scott on percussion. They left their family and friends behind to make Seattle their new home.

I’ve had the pleasure to review The Villain In Me and I am really impressed on how awesome they sound. It opens up with a song called “Scream It Out.” I really enjoy the guitars on this, as well as the powerful lyrics and positive meaning. The drums sound great along with the bass and composition of the song. It will definitely make you want to tap your foot as well as move your head to the beat. Another song to follow that is “Pendulum.” “I could stay forever and die inside your arms…I must be dreaming.” With lyrics like that, this song is going to be a favorite for fans of hopeless romance. “Can you scream it out, can you scream out loud, come on sing along” – that is just what kids do live when they see Alabaster perform. Those are just some of the catchy lyrics in this upbeat song (“Scream it Out”). All these songs flow together really well make this new material sound amazing.

They have a lot of touring and playing shows under their belt. Alabaster loves playing shows on the road as well as close to home just like most bands. They have had the opportunity to play CMJ in NYC as well as play shows in over 25 different states. They’ve also had the chance to play the Vans Warped Tour which is a traveling event with many bands playing and tons of vendors.

Alabaster has been compared to sounding like Flyleaf, VersaEmerge, and Paramore. If you are a fan of those bands I highly recommend checking out this quintet. They won’t let you down. With Shaina’s powerful vocals, backed by talented musicians, they look to advance in the music scene by reaching out to more fans.

Pick up Alabaster‘s music on their website: Follow their tour dates, merch, news and more on their homepage. You should also pick up their EP Unraveled on there too.
