Lorna Shore Interview
Austin 19- Drums
Gary 21- Bass
Adam 25- Guitar
Tom 22- Vocals
The band formed a few years ago with none of the current members actually. But, no disrespect to earlier members they were not well respected in their scene. Once Gary and Tom joined we were able to make what we thought was good music with the first set line-up which was Tom, Jeff, Aaron, Scott and Jeff. Under this lineup we released our first EP “Triumph” which got us some buzz. Soon after we had to make some changes to advance so we chose to replace Aaron with current guitarist Adam. Adam became the primary song writer and helped change the direction of the music to something not so cliche. However when Adam joined we were rushed into the studio for only a week to record a quickly thrown together album “Bone Kingdom.” Although received well and the response helped us go on several tours and get a buzz we knew it was not the best product we could come out with. After the tours Jeff and Scott both left leaving us in kind of a slump and a setback, however Tom was lucky enough to find Austin who killed it on the drums helped keep the band together and now we are about ready to release our best product yet.
I think at first it just could be seen as wanting to live a “rockstar” life. Growing up we all loved music so thats why we all picked up an instrument, but right now I feel like the reason we want to be a band is because we love the product (music) we are making and don’t want it to die out in a mess of tons of other music that comes out today.
Our primary song writer Adam has always been influenced by technical death metal or anything of the sort, a couple of his favorite bands would be Necrophagist and Obscura but he definitely likes to bring his own form of evil to the table.
Tom at an earlier stage was influenced by heavier vocalists such as Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel) and Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder) although once he was able to hear his vocals progressing more he now just pushes himself to an even higher level of vocal skills.
I (Gary) like to try and influence the bass I play in little ways just by adding little twists of funk or just more rhythmic and I got that by listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But I guess when it comes to metal I can look to people like Evan Brewer as an inspiration to play better.
Austin actually came into this band with not that much experience as a metal drummer, or at least the more extreme version that we like to play. He basically killed it right off the bat though and again bands that he enjoys and inspire him to play better would be The Faceless and Rings of Saturn.
Fast, Evil, Pissed, Technical, Angry.
It would have to be Maleficium our newest release, after playing the same songs for a while any of our newer songs is a thrill and a fun challenge to play.
When we get the final copy of the song. We are open to most tweaks while recording and never settle on pre production. If we feel something will make the song sound better we will do what it takes.
You can expect to probably not expect what we are about to put out. The fast parts are faster, the heavier parts are heavier, the vocals are more extreme, and overall just an evil environment. Once the new single drops you will get the picture of our new style.
We want our fans to love the sound first off. Hopefully if you like us you will like what our minds have come up with. We want them to realize that the genre never has to stop growing, that you can still do crazy things and scream it doesn’t just have to be basic riffs. We want people to see that we can be crazy technical and very heavy.
I guess something that would be awesome would be to sell out a big cap market show and have famous musicians in the audience banging their heads. But that’s a long shot right now haha, I guess the best thing to happen at our shows right now would be for our fans to love our performance and have a great time.
New Releases, music wise, music video, promos, and probably a tour and more announcements along the way, get excited!
